I hereby declare this month February Finishing Frenzy -- time to finish up languishing projects, weave in ends, sew on buttons, and clear out the knitting basket. I'm in the mood to be productive and revel in small victories.
February Finishing Frenzy, project #1
pattern: High Tide Baby Blanket (free!), by Heather Dixon
yarn: Knit Picks Simply Cotton Worsted
needles: US 9 Knit Picks Harmony interchangeable circular
notes:
The pattern was very fun to knit, as the chevron pattern is a great way to play with colors. It went quickly due to lots of knitting time in the car and while "watching" football. Weaving in all the ends was a huge pain and took a lot of time, so I'm not sure I'd knit it again.
The yarn was fine -- it's fairly soft and it's not as fragile as the organic cotton from Blue Sky Alpacas or Lion Brand. Simply Cotton falls on the thin side of worsted, unlike the other two. I used maybe 2/3 of each skein of yarn. Here are the colors:

lovely. also, nice new blog theme! hope you get your snow day wish. the forecast here is for another 8-12 inches tomorrow (on top of today's 3-5)...but i don't think we'll get a snow day! oh well -- it is still very pretty out, and i'm hoping to snowshoe on friday!
Pretty! And I love the idea of a finishing frenzy. I've really fallen behind!
It looks so warm and snugly. Why is it that all the great looking blankets have so many ends to weave in? Have fun in the snow :)
love the blanket - the stripes are worth the weaving in. Good luck with the snowmagedon!
Your snow day sounds wonderful!
Nice blanket! Good luck on the February Finishing, a laudable goal.
So pretty! The colors make it a very happy blanket. It sounds like you got your snow day! Stay warm!
I think you got your snow day! The pictures I've seen look so pretty!
That is one cute blanket, makes me want to knit some stripes.
I love this idea! I really need a finishing frenzy, I have completely fallen behind and I'd like to get to the point where I have 1 easy and 1 complicated project on the needles so I can focus and actually get something done!
Well look at you making the rest of us (me) non-finishers look bad! Now, I have to think about that pile of UFO's I have hidden away, or maybe I'll just go have tea ;). But, I love that blankie - so cosy looking -- and great colors!
Warmest blessings,
GG
The blanket is beautiful and you certainly got your snow day wish!
You picked great colors!
Did you get your snow day?
Lovely! I think the finishing bug is going around. My knitting basket is pretty much cleaned out. I don't know what to do with myself :)
How beautiful and soothing. I really love the color scheme and the crispness of the arrow knit.
What great timing! I was just perusing for a good chevron blanket pattern this morning...it must be a sign :) Yours turned out lovely.
