all wrapped up in handknits

Last Valentine's Day I gave Paul the promise of a Doctor Who scarf, something he had been requesting for years.
Many, many rows of garter stitch and eight skeins of yarn later, it is complete! I selected a rather more subtle palette of colors than the original and didn't make it nearly as long, as I wanted it to be something Paul would actually wear rather than a costume piece.

Doctor Who scarf
needles: US 6 Clover bamboo straights
cobblestone heather
eggplant
garnet heather
gold
lemongrass heather
squirrel heather
truffle

notes:
I cast on 44 stitches and loosely followed this pattern until I ran out of yarn. One skein of each color, except for two skeins of squirrel heather. Paul's also sporting the Armando hat I knit for him.

Rue kindly sent me a wee bit of ginger Madelintosh tosh merino light  so that I can bind off my live oak shawlette. Hooray! Many thanks, Rue.

Pretty scarf. Sometimes long is not good.

So what if next on the needles now?

Your hubby looks so proud of his new scarf. It's great when finally a project gets completed.

I love how knitters help each other out! On two occassions, I've run out of yarn, and was able to find someone on Ravelry to save the day. Can't wait to see your shall completed - the yarn is very pretty.

That is a spiffy, stripy scarf! I think you hit the happy medium between "crazy long" and "actually wearable" ... hope the lucky recipient agrees!

What a great scarf! I love the presentation of all the balls of yarn together waiting to be knit!

What a great scarf! And your gift presentation is do much nicer than mine when I do a "yarn that will turn into something, I promise!" gift. I've got to step up my game!

Was there enough of the ginger tosh there for you to bind off? I'm terrible at estimating how much yarn those last few rows need. But I'm really glad I was able to help out.

Nice of Rue! And whew. I can't wait to see your Aidez, it's such a great pattern and I love the color you're knitting it in.
