hemlock amoeba?

Hemlock Ring is looking more like an amoeba now, or perhaps a jellyfish.  Thanks to yet another heat wave, I've been holing up in the downstairs rec room (AKA the man cave) and knitting while drinking endless glasses of iced tea.

I used the magic loop technique with a 40" cable rather than DPNs to start, which worked great. At some point it just slid out of magic loop and I switched to regular knitting in the round.  At this point I'd love to switch to a longer cable, but apparently I don't own one!  Something to add to the next Knit Picks order.  I'm using stitch markers between each feather-and-fan repeat, which is super helpful now that there are a bazillion stitches on the needle.

The postman delivered one last round of yarn for the stripy crochet blanket.  I refuse to buy any more yarn for this project, and I don't want to calculate how many skeins have already gone into this thing.  I do love the ice cream colors, though, and it's absolutely addicting to make.  With any luck it will fit our queen size bed!

I caved and bought a double-walled iced coffee travel cup from Starbucks, and it has turned out to be a great purchase! I usually just fill it with homemade iced coffee and tea; it's even perfect for toting around the house because condensation doesn't build up on the outside.

I like the amoeba, and the stripy blanket. I know what you mean about not wanting to buy more yarn for the stripey blanket; my log cabin was like that!

And the cup? I think I need one...

I can't wait to see your blankets! And how great is it that you're holed up in a basement...drowning the heat with iced tea...knitting & crocheting blankets. Love it.

You must have the patience of a saint to make a blanket for your bed. I'll do baby blankets, but that's about all!

A cup that doesn't build up condensation is very tempting!

I love your blankets! They will be awesome for when you emerge from the basement. Also, I wish I had the patience to knit blankets: they are so cozy in the winter.

Hemlock amoeba sounds very deadly to me! ;)

Hmm. I hadn't thought of that aspect of the double-walled cups...

I think that the Hemlock blanket looks like a blob for every one until it is finished and blocked. How about using two needles with the longer cables you ow? Well that only works if you have 4 of the same size tip. Working with Addis, I have multiples of each each pretty much.

And I love Starbucks tumblers. I am going to have to replace a few this fall. But okay, I have been using them for over 7 years!! Enjoy your new one. And stay cool.

I love the colors for that crocheted blanket. And like with most crochet items, I stop counting once it goes over 5 skeins :)

I just found you blog and am loving it. You do such great work and I think I need that cup in my life as I'm always making my own iced coffee from the mornings leftovers.

Blankets in the summer -- you have my admiration! But you will be all ready for when the weather gets colder. I love the colors you've chosen for the striped one.

Re: Miss Marple and Poirot. I'm partial to Joan Dixon as Miss Marple, but I am loving the new PBS mysteries with Poirot. They are excellent. What I really want next are new episodes of Inspector Lewis...am all caught up on previous seasons and need a new fix!

Don't all shawl/blanket things look like amoebas? Yours promises to be pretty!

My curve of pursuit is going to end up couch sized instead of queen bed as planned because I keep stealing its yarn.

Those ice cream colors look so great together. Is that Mission Falls?
